At long last, ranked play is finally coming to Call of Duty: Warzone 2. After what seems like a lifetime of waiting, Activision has unveiled its plans for the future of the battle royale, including a brand new competitive mode.
Over the years, ranked play has garnered a controversial history within the franchise. Still, the popularity and demand for high-level competition in battle royales are undeniable and something that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is likely to benefit from when introduced.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will receive Season 03 Reloaded on the 10th of May and ranked play is one of the many features that will be coming to Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 when the season drops.
Some of the highlights players can expect and get excited about include:
- The Alboran Hatchery Core Multiplayer map.
- The third Raid episode.
- A new experience for DMZ.
- Two new fully automatic sidearms.
But it’s ranked play that is set to bring the most considerable change to the experience. Players will receive Skill Ratings based on their match performances, with assists, eliminations, and overall rankings being considered.
To keep things balanced, participating in each ranked game will cost a Skill Rating entry fee and winning the game will give a positive Skill Rating. At the same time, a quick elimination will result in a negative.
Like other competitive games, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will feature multiple Skill Rating tiers. The lowest tear will be Bronze, and the highest will be Iridescent, with the top 250 players displaying their names on a public leaderboard, declaring them the world’s best players.
Ranked play will also have a separate ranking system that grants prizes for progression. Rewards include charms, emblems, a gun screen, and a ranked play Operator Skin. Going forward, each season will also give end-of-season rewards for reaching certain kill, assist, and placement milestones in ranked.
