The First Teaser For Mortal Kombat 12 Is Here

It’s official, the first teaser of Mortal Kombat 12 is here, and fans can finally get excited. While it was a given that the next entry into the fighting game franchise was a certainty, the real question was when that title would arrive. The answer to that question is now. Right now.

Recently, Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat, went onto Twitter to state that NetherRealm, the developers of Mortal Kombat, was getting really to announce their next game, which would be either Mortal Kombat 12 or Injustice 3, followed shortly by a Warner Bros. Discovery executive spilling the beans when he announced that Mortal Kombat 12 was in development.

Now fans of the franchise have finally received their first teaser, and while it is brief, it’s also exciting and has created much dialogue about the future of the franchise online.

In the teaser, fans can see an hourglass dumping out sand, and when the camera zooms in to focus on a single grain, it explodes. This moment has created confusion online, but it’s most likely just a nod to Mortal Kombat 11’s story.

As fans who have played the previous instalment will know, Mortal Kombat 11’s story was all about Kronika, the Keeper of Time and how she was manipulating time with an Hourglass artefact.

At the end of the game, the Houseglass is used to create a new era, which means an entirely new timeline for the franchise is now in play. So if we take the image of the hourglass in the teaser at face value, Mortal Kombat 12 will likely follow up on the events of its predecessor.

Mortal Kombat 12 is currently in development. Are you excited to learn more about the game? Let us know in the comments.
