Nintendo, the company behind one of the world’s most popular portable gaming consoles, the Nintendo Switch, has just issued a public advisory for owners of the Nintendo Switch, specifically about an issue regarding the platform’s batteries.
It’s crazy to think that the Nintendo Switch first entered our lives six years ago, and honesty, it’s one of the few things that has never really dipped in popularity since. However, today we aren’t here to sing the device’s praises or talk about one of the year’s most-anticipated games, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. No, today we are talking about some unexpected hardware issues.
Last night, Nintendo’s Japanese customer service account took to Twitter to issue a public service advisory regarding the Nintendo Switch’s lithium-ion batteries. According to the post, which had to be translated from its native Japanese, owners who leave their Nintendo Switches unused for extended periods may end up with the device being unable to charge.
If you were to leave the console for extended periods without it being charged, it could result in the battery fully draining and being unable to switch back on. However, all is not lost, as Nintendo stated that charging your Nintendo Switch at least once every six months would counteract the abovementioned issue.
It’s worth noting that the Tweet never addresses a course of action for players with an already fully drained Nintendo Switch device that cannot switch on. However, players likely will be able to send their Switch to an official customer service centre to replace the batteries, although this has yet to be confirmed.
So that being said, it’s time. Go and find your Switch and put it on charge before it dies, you heathen.
