Niantic Teams Up With Capcom to Bring Monster Hunter Now to Life

Even if you live under a rock, there’s absolutely no way that you haven’t heard about Pokémon Go. Personally, while I was always searching for every Pokémon I could find, the battling aspect of it all just didn’t scratch the itch that the “normal” Pokémon games gave me. Well, if you’re like me and you crave a little bit of battle in the middle of Sandton City, then I have got news for you.

Niantic has partnered with Capcom to bring a version of Monster Hunter, called Monster Hunter Now, to the Niantic World. That’s right, you heard me. Epic-scale battles right in our very own AR streets!

It’s said that the game will use tapping and swiping controls, depending on what weapon you have equipped, so I guess it will be similar to the Pokémon battles we currently have, but the thrill of hunting down these monsters has me all tingly inside. Using the drops that you get from each battle, players will also be able to forge different weapons and armour, giving the game a more AR RPG vibe than what’s already on offer. Standard battles will have a time cap of 75 seconds, but players will also have the opportunity to team up with a few friends to take on epic-scale monsters for all the glory. (If you have no friends, friends will be provided).

Monster Hunter Now is pegged for launch on iOS and other mobile devices this September, but players can sign up for early access on the official website.

Will you be taking on the monsters at large this September? Let us know in the comments.
