Niantic has begun testing a brand new Team Up feature using Pokemon GO’s Campfire. The idea is to help players have an easier and smoother experience when connecting with others for raids.
Since its release, Pokemon GO has remained hugely popular all around the world and players have been roaming around their neighbourhoods collecting pesky little Pokemon for over seven years with very little change to the original formula.
Aside from just walking around and grabbing Pokemon, the app also lets players claim Gyms for their GO team and take place in raids for powerful Pokemon. However, raids have always been a point of contention for players struggling with coordinating connections, which is where Campfire comes into play.
Originally developed to be Niantic’s own social media platform, Campfire has been made available for some Pokemon GO players, allowing trainers to communicate with other Pokemon GO players easily and set up events and raids together.
Now Niantic is taking the Campfire integration a step further by making something called Team Up live for a limited time. In a nutshell, using Team Up will let Pokemon GO players either directly host or join Raid Battles with others worldwide. Team Up is currently available by invitation only, but when the test ends on March 29th, Niantic will likely implement it permanently.
While players wait for Team Up to become available, they can distract themselves with the new Let’s GO event that sees the three elemental monkeys, Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour, made available for all after being regionally locked before now.
