There is nothing quite like a good gaming subscription service. Thanks to the astronomical price of games these days, often the only way to get to play and enjoy a wide variety of games is by using a subscription service, thankfully this is something that almost every platform boasts.
Today the subscription service we’re talking about is Nintendo Switch Online. For those who don’t know, Nintendo Switch Online is a service that offers Nintendo Switch players the option to game online as well as giving them access to Nintendo’s catalogue of classic games.
The basic tier offers access to NES, Super NES, and Game Boy libraries, while the Expansion Pack tier allows subscribers to play N64 and Game Boy Advance titles. These libraries are ever-evolving and just last week the service was updated to include a classic Kirby game that was originally only available for Game Boy, NES, and Super NES platforms.
The games added to Nintendo Switch Online in last week’s updates are Kirby’s Dreamland 2, BurgerTime Deluxe as well as Xevious and SIDE POCKET. Kirby’s Dreamland 2 is a game first released back in 1995, BurgerTime is an arcade-style puzzle platformer. SIDE POCKET is a SNES port of the arcade game of the same name and Xevious is a vertical-scrolling shooter.
For those wondering, the Nintendo Switch Online service doesn’t follow a set release schedule like Epic Game Store’s free game every Thursday or PlayStation Plus’s monthly rollout. Instead, the service receives updates sporadically and that doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon.
