With the release of Diablo IV just around the corner, the excitement is getting to the point that it can no longer just be ignored. I’ve been preparing myself and my friends for the new Diablo by gathering everyone and replaying Diablo III together. Still, instead of helping to take my mind off it – it’s only made my excitement worse.
So this morning, I thought I’d drag you, dear reader, into the pit alongside me and go through everything we know about Diablo IV so far because excitement, much like a secret, must be shared.
Which Classes Will Be Available?
So far, five classes have been confirmed for Diablo IV. However, we don’t know if this is the exclusive list or if more will be included on launch.
Druid
The Druid class was the first to be confirmed for Diablo 4. Druids use powers based on the earth and wind and seamlessly shapeshift into Werebear and Werewolf forms.
Unlike the previous game’s Druids, this time, the Druids won’t use a skill to transform; instead, whenever they use a skill which requires them to be transformed, they will shift and remain in that form for a few seconds after.
Barbarian
Barbarians are another returning class and are just as strong and weapon crazy as their predecessors. From what we know so far, Barbarians will use the Arsenal system, allowing them to carry around four types of weapons to swap between.
Sorceress
For players looking for a more traditional type of spellcaster, there is the Sorceress. The Sorceress can control lightning, ice and fire from a distance. The Sorceress class also uses the new Enchantment system, which allows them three extra Enchantment slots that turn skills into unique passives.
Rogue
During BlizzCon 2021, Blizzard revealed a class missing in action since the original Diablo game, the Rogue. The Rogue will be able to support ranged play with a bow or close combat fighting with daggers and knives. The class will also work with a combo points mechanic to see abilities build off attacks.
Necromancer
The latest class Blizzard revealed during the 2022 Xbox & Bethesda showcase is the Necromancer. The Necromancer will use corpses as a resource and have access to various bone and blood magic skills.
Necromancers are also able to animate bones to play and fight alongside them. Thanks to the newly added Book of the Dead, players can finally customise their minions and evolve them into more specialised versions.

The other fascinating thing that was confirmed for Diablo IV is full character customisation for the first time. This system will allow players to dress their characters in various combinations of unique armour pieces and change facial and body characteristics.
Diablo IV will also feature an expanded dye system allowing players to customise individual pieces of armour for that special touch.
“You will be able to change the face of your character, the hairstyle, the facial hair, and add jewellery, makeup, and body markings such as tattoos or body paint. You will also be able to change the colour values of your character’s skin, eyes, hair/facial hair, and body markings. Some elements will be class specific to support the classes’ unique backgrounds, but many will be shared between classes allowing more possibilities to mix and match.” – Blizzard.
We also know that Diablo IV will be open world. While Blizzard has yet to detail what that means, we know that the world will contain five unique regions for players to explore in any order they wish. If you want to learn a bit more about the world of Diablo IV, you can watch this video detailing the diverse regions, monstrous inhabitants, and the amazing discoveries that await:
Diablo IV will also feature full cross-play multiplayer between PC, Xbox and PlayStation and offer couch co-op. This means that players can jump into the game with their friends regardless of the system they are playing on.
Diablo IV will be releasing for PlayStation 4/5; Xbox One; Xbox Series X/S, and PC on the 2nd of June 2023.
