One of the best parts about Hogwarts Legacy is how full the game is of secrets, chests, and collectables for you to find. However, the one puzzle that had me on the brink of frustration throughout much of my early playthrough was none other than the infamous Animal Puzzle Doors, which seem to make no sense.
So if you’re anything like me, you’ve spent the last while trying to mentally brute-force your way through these doors by trying to guess every possible answer. However, what if I told you you didn’t need to do any of that, instead all you needed to do was find a clue left for you by the game’s developers (or just use my handy-dandy screenshot of it right here)
For players wanting to find this themself in the game, all you would need to do is fast-travel to the Divination Classroom Floo Flame. Turn left into the room with the wooden rafters and follow the path until you can take a right. Follow that path and bam! Animal door.
Now, in a chest opposite the door, players can pick up their copy of the Arithmancy Study Guide Page, which will be their key to opening Animal Puzzle Doors.
To use this page, you need to note (or take a picture with your phone) the number assigned to each animal. Then it’s time to look at the door.
Each animal puzzle door comprises of triangle diagrams with several animal symbols, numbers, and question marks. To unlock these doors, players must add up the three symbols in the circles touching the triangle to get to the number shown in the middle.
So players will look at the first circle and see what animal is shown, then check the Arithmancy Study Guide Page to find its corresponding number. Do the same for the next circle and add the two numbers you now have together. Players must find the third animal that makes up the difference between the number they now have and the number shown in the triangle.
Next to each animal puzzle door, players will find dials that can be interacted with to change the ?? symbol to the animal with the numerical value needed.
