Atari Is Celebrating Its 50th Anniversary With A Collectible Boxset

Atari, where many gamers’ journeys first began, is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. It’s doing so in the only way it knows how – by letting fans nearing retirement age part with roughly eighteen thousand rands, or $999.99, to buy one of only 100 collectible boxsets that feature 10 Atari 2600 cartridges with reimagined artwork, acrylic toppers that light up when inserted into the console, and more.

Each cartridge in the box will feature a remastered version of its original key art. The cartridges include fan favourites such as Adventure, Missile Command, Warlords, Super Breakout, Crystal Castles, Haunted House, Yars’ Revenge, Centipede, Asteroids, and Gravitar.

As of writing this, the collection is in pre-production, with all artwork subject to change.

Pre-orders are already open, and gamers dying to get their hands on this fantastic collectable can follow the link to place an order.

I would love to own this one-of-a-kind collectable, but at R18k, it is hard to justify. What are your thoughts on this collectable box set? Will you buy one? Let me know.
