Electronic Arts (EA) has cancelled Titanfall Legends, a highly anticipated single-player adventure game set in the Apex Legends Universe that had Respawn Entertainment overseeing the project’s development. According to sources close to the situation, EA’s decision to abandon the game stems from the company’s low revenue forecast for the current quarter.
According to the source, this is the same reason that EA has decided to sunset Apex Legends for mobile. EA’s management has notified a team of about 50 workers of the discontinuation of Titanfall Legends and that their jobs would be relocated. Those who cannot be reassigned will be offered a severance settlement, and their employment will be terminated.
However, Apex fans don’t need to stress. Even though Titanfall Legends has been cancelled, Apex Legends for console and PC is going nowhere. Despite the disappointment for single-player adventure enthusiasts, Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale remains one of the market’s most popular titles.
Apex Legends has been a big hit since its release in 2019, and has earned over $2 billion in revenue thus far.
