In June this year, Microsoft revealed they were actively working to bring some more casual-style games to its Microsoft Teams service. But they also made it clear that they were only y testing casual games internally and that this might not even be an integration that gets rolled out.
However, looking at how much attention Microsoft has shown Teams over the last while when many around the world find themselves balancing hybrid and remote work, it was almost a given that Microsoft would continue expanding its service.
Today, Microsoft is adding a bunch of casual games to Microsoft Teams. Co-workers will now have the option of playing games like Solitaire, Minesweeper, Wordament, and IceBreakers against each other while attending Teams meetings that could have and should have instead been an email.
All four games currently available via the service are interactive and support multiple players, from just two to 250. The games available now are straightforward, and all focus on bringing teams together.
Solitaire will allow for head-to-head competition; Minesweeper will see co-workers argue about how the game works. IceBreakers is there to spur team conversation, and Wordament allows up to 250 people to play.
Currently, the games can be found under Games for Work in Teams but will only be available to enterprise customers.
