Gotham Knights is set to be released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC today, however, fans are already upset as Warner Bros. has revealed that their upcoming game will only run at a mere 30fps on console with no performance/quality option.
Fleur Marty, the Executive Producer at Warner Bros. Montreal, announced the lack of the performance/quality option in a discord post in which they mention the difficulties of just lowering the resolution in order to gain a higher FPS while still being able to provide a fully untethered co-op experience in their highly detailed world.
To add insult to injury, the game’s console version is actually R450 more expensive than the PC version.
Striking Distance Studios who are developing The Callisto Project which is set to be released this December, took the opportunity to confirm in a Tweet that their game will have a 60fps performance mode.
Many gamers have been upset over the lack of a performance option, as many new games are not actually using the full capability of the latest consoles. One of the key features of these new generation consoles was the ability to game at 120fps, taking them one step closer to the performance of a PC, however, there are only a small number of games which actually run at 120fps on PlayStation and Xbox.
The minimum specs required to run Gotham Knights on PC were released earlier this year and are also raising a few eyebrows. To use the lowest settings, you’ll need at least an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i5-9600K, as well as a Radeon RX 590 or GTX 1660 Ti graphics card. But what has people talking are the suggested specifications that were added to the Steam page this week: Intel Core i7-10700K (3.8 GHz) or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU.
The consolation prize for console gamers is that the price of this hardware far exceeds that of the latest consoles from Xbox and Sony.
