Intel announces the Arc A770 GPU

The first day of the Intel Innovation event brought several announcements. The new 13th Gen Intel Core family was one of the highlights as Intel aims to keep dominating the semiconductor market.

Also among the announcements was the confirmation that Intel is launching the Arc A770 GPU in a range of models and will be released on October 12th. Intel hopes to tap into the gaming market as their GPU will compete directly with the Geforce RTX 3060, the Radeon RX6650 XT, and other mid-range GPUs. The A770 features a full ACM-G10 GPU with 32 Xe-Cores and 8GB to 16GB memory.

Intel claims its GPU offers up to 65% better peak performance than competing products in ray tracing. (presumably NVIDIA RTX 3060 series)

Pat Gelsinger, Intel’s CEO, confirmed the A770 Limited Edition is already shipping to reviewers and Limited Editions will be distributed by Intel, its retailers and retail partners. The Arc A770 Limited Edition aims for smooth 1080p performance with good 1440p capabilities, as it hopes to outperform the RTX 3060 and Radeon RX 6650 XT while coming in at a lower price.

While there was no information on the A750 or A580, Ryan Shrout, who was the face of Arc Alchemist’s marketing campaign, confirmed in a tweet that we’ll hear more about the A750 GPU later this week.

The new GPU will be priced similarly to the GeForce RTX 3060 at $329 (around R6,000). There has been no update yet on stock availability in South Africa. Stay tuned to NAG for future updates as the hardware season continues with the new AMD RDNA 3 graphics card being unveiled on November 3rd.
