Ready to bring out your inner Slash? Ubisoft’s Rocksmith+ launches this week!

Rocksmith+ and Ubisoft’s learn-to-play guitar game is finally ready for a PC launch. The company announced last week that they will release their latest game tomorrow,  September 6th.

Rocksmith+ will boast the largest ever catalogue of official songs in a music learning service, with over 5,000 songs across 7 different genres available at launch, with more to come.

For those who have never heard of Rocksmith, it is basically a Guitar Hero game, but you use your actual guitar, and the game is designed to help you improve your guitar skills with real-time feedback.

Confused about how you would connect your real guitar to your laptop or PC? In the previous version of Rocksmith, you would need to connect your guitar with a specific cable. Well, it’s 2022 and cables are fast becoming a thing of the past. Releasing alongside their latest game is the Rocksmith+ Connect mobile companion app.

By positioning your phone in front of your acoustic guitar or amp, the app uses your phone’s microphone to detect notes. The app can also be used as a tuner for your guitar.

Rocksmith’s previous game was released in 2014 and was a once-off purchase with additional content that you could purchase later. Things are a bit different with the latest version of Rocksmith+ as it is now based on a subscription service with prices likely to be around R250 per month.  However, if you owned the previous version of Rocksmith, or participated in the closed beta, a “loyalty offer” will be available to you. If you sign up for the three months plan you will receive a month for free, and if you sign up for a one-year plan, you’ll get three months free.

Even though this week’s launch will be for PC only, like the previous versions of Rocksmith, the game is expected to be released for consoles as well. Ubisoft said it will make more info on this available at a later stage.
