After years of leaks, talks and announcements, Sony’s All-New PlayStation Plus Service is now live in South Africa. For those who somehow managed to miss the influx of news surrounding the service over the last few months, I’m here to explain everything you need to know about the All-New PlayStation Plus Service.
Firstly, Sony’s All-New PlayStation Plus Service replaces the existing PlayStation Plus service many are already familiar with. The service is broken up into three tiers, each with little perks. It’s also important to note that if you had an existing PlayStation Plus subscription, you would now find yourself on the “Essential” tier with the new role out.
Before we go into the differences between the three tiers and their pricing, let’s first talk about the things that are the same across the board. Each service will have monthly games you can download, exactly like the previous PlayStation plus. Subscribing to any tier will also give you access to online multiplayer features. You’ll still receive exclusive discounts as well as exclusive content. Each tier will also include cloud storage, share play, game help and access to the PlayStation Plus game collection.
Now that you understand what the basics are of each package, let’s look at the three available options:
Essential
- 1 month R 119
- 3 months R 319
- 12 months R 749
This is the tier you’ll be on automatically if you already had an active subscription with the previous PlayStation Plus service.
Extra
- 1 month R 179
- 3 months R 519
- 2 months R 1239
Subscribing to the “Extra” tier gives you all the primary perks and everything in the “Essential” tier. However, you’ll also get access to the Game Library.
Deluxe
- 1 month R 209
- 3 months R 609
- 12 months R 1429
On top of all the default benefits, the “Deluxe” tier also offers subscribers access to over 300 PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games to play and a Classics Catalog of beloved PSOne, PS2 and PSP games.
PlayStation released a brand new high-budget trailer to celebrate the rollout of the All-New PlayStation Plus Service. The trailer is filled with PlayStation-related Easter Eggs for you to spot. You can watch it here:
