The music soundtrack in your favourite game is most likely etched in your mind somewhere, associated with a memory of hours of fun, or an otherwise particular time in your life. For me, GTA V will forever have a place in my mind and music catalogue. The main menu music in GTA V is probably one of the best melodies ever composed; next to the Battlefield 1942 theme tune of course.
In a new report by Ebuyer, the UK based electronic retailer compiler a list of the top 10 streamed game songs worldwide.
With data sourced from Statista and Business Insider, the report also speculated that the song in the number 1 spot could be raking in around $341,000 from streaming alone. It seems music in games can be big business if it hits the mark.
Many big-name artists such as Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie and even Snoop Dog have created iconic songs for games and there’s even an official gaming category at the BAFTAs.
Taking the top spot is Minecraft’s ‘Sweden’ by German composer Daniel Rosenfield with an impressive 85 million streams. Interesting to note is that action-adventure and role-playing games dominated the top 10, including Assassin’s Creed, The Last of Us, and Skyrim. Of course, many iconic game songs are not available for streaming on Spotify or any other platform.
So with that said, here is the list of 10 game songs that are most streamed on Spotify
