The game missed Microsoft and Bethesda’s co-op E3 2021 show over the weekend, but at a second Xbox event last night, Ninja Theory dropped a new behind-the-scenes pre-production video of its next creepy psychodrama with some new info.
“What we’re doing right now is building a good chunky slice of the game before we then move into full production to build out the rest,” explains studio boss Tameem Antoniades. “Hellblade was very special to us and we didn’t want to do a straight sequel. We wanted to do something extra special and so we’re making our lives as difficult as possible in that pursuit.”
Ninja Theory’s design team is working in Iceland, capturing photographic and hi-res photogrammetry data, according to Antoniades, and Senua’s voice and mo-cap actor Melinda Juergens has been in combat training for two years now in preparation for the role. The studio is also apparently collaborating with Epic Games to create the game’s “next-generation” 3D models.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is expected to launch on Xbox consoles but no date has been confirmed.
