The latest Legend to enter the Apex Games takes mobility to new levels. If you already struggle against Horizon, you don’t want to know about Valkyrie.
Daughter of Titan pilot Viper, who you mowed down in Titanfall 2, Kairi Imahara made it her life’s mission to find Kuben Blisk and make him pay for putting her father in harm’s way. When she finally did, she yoinked one of Blisk’s Apex Games cards, instead of killing him, and now gets to go on state-sanctioned murder sprees whenever she wants, just like dad would have wanted.
Using a jetpack fashioned from her father’s Northstar Titan, Valkyrie’s Passive is the ability to fly until her fuel runs out (replenished over time). Once up in the air (or whenever really), she can rain down carnage with her Tactical, Missile Swarm, a targeted cluster of mini-rockets that damage and disorient. Then, when you feel the need to reposition (flee), the whole squad can use her Ultimate, Skyward Dive. This launches Valkyrie, and any ally that hooks up, into the air. She’s like your own personal Jump Tower.
If you thought including a Legend that can just straight-up fly sounded a little over-powered, you’re probably correct. Especially when the devs are already looking into ways to nerf Horizon’s mobility.
Keep your eyes on the sky.
Season 9 of Apex Legends begins next week, on 4 May.
