Valheim fan and modder Willybach has released a custom texture compilation for the game, featuring new hi-res textures for “most biomes” and other environmental models.
Available to download now via NexusMods, Willybach’s HD Valheim mod also uses AI processes to optimise and improve the game’s original textures, and “drastically” reduces load times. But mostly, it’s just very pretty.

For the moment, according to the mod’s blurb, it doesn’t include new textures for the mountains and oceans biomes, and armour, weapons, animals, and creatures. Maybe Willybach working on those? Dunno.
Launched into Steam Early Access in February, Valheim has become an instant indie megahit with over two million sales in its first two weeks, and six million by mid-March. In its most recent development update, the team at Iron Gate promised “a lot of exciting things” coming up. In the meantime, you can keep yourself busy maximising your purgatorial productivity with a Greydwarf Toaster 5000, perhaps, or join the Body Recovery Squad.
