Netflix’s first original anime Castlevania is coming to an end with its fourth season, but they may be looking into a new series in the same universe.
Netflix recently announced the release of the final season on Twitter alongside a vague reminder of what’s happened so far.

But that doesn’t mean it’s over. According to Deadline, Netflix is looking into creating a new series set in the same universe, with different characters. Assumedly, it will be based on one of the later games.
Based on the classic Konami game, Castlevania follows Trevor Belmont, last surviving member of the vampire-slaying Belmont clan, as he and elemental magician Sypha try to save humanity from a vampire invasion, originally sparked by Dracula, and continued by a war council of vampire sisters, led by Carmilla. It’s not going great for humanity, but the show is excellent.
Creator and executive producer Warren Ellis wrote the scripts for the final season, but had no further involvement due to multiple allegations of sexual misconduct made last year. It’s unlikely he will be involved in the new series, despite his (since-deleted) apology for causing unintentional harm to over 60 people.
The fourth and final season of Castlevania comes to Netflix on 13 May, so we should see an actual trailer soon.
