The House of the Dead: Remake

The House of the Dead: Remake rises once more to spook the Nintendo Switch

A remake of Sega’s actual arcade classic The House of the Dead, from 1996, is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Published by Forever Entertainment, The House of the Dead: Remake features new graphics and controls (obviously), but the rail-shooter gameplay is largely untouched, promising “hordes of the undead monstrosities” for you and a friend to mow down with impunity. Also, like in the original game, there are multiple endings to explore, which change depending on how well you do shooting all the things and rescuing all the innocent civilians.

The original plot wasn’t particularly complex; the insane Dr. Curien plans to unleash his undead horde on all of humanity and it’s up to Agent Rogan of the AMS, and sometimes his unnamed 2Up partner, to save the day, while also rescuing Rogan’s wife.

Since it’s on the Switch, you don’t even have to stand, waiting for your turn while 2 Unlimited blares over the speakers in the Nu Metro arcade area, or hold a light gun that hundreds of sweaty children have clasped before you. Remember when you used to touch things other people had touched without even thinking about them giving you the plague? Those were the days.

The House of the Dead: Remake does not have a confirmed release date, as yet, but it is due to launch some time this year.
