CD Projekt will be sticking to its Cyberpunk 2077 guns “for years to come”

There’s no going back now, CD Projekt is committed to getting Cyberpunk 2077 to a state they can be proud of.

According to a recent Reuters interview with CD Projekt’s joint chief executive Adam Kicinski, they’re not giving up on Cyberpunk 2077 anytime soon, despite that dog-show of a launch, the subsequent lawsuits, and it still not being allowed in the PlayStation Store.

I don’t see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077. We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come.

So, no, they won’t be abandoning Cyberpunk to focus on their universally adored Witcher game franchise instead. Depending who you are, that’s either a good thing or a bad thing. Although they have pretty much cancelled any multiplayer functionality they had planned, sorry.

Cyberpunk 2077 was removed from the PlayStation Store, about a week after the game eventually launched in December last year, because the PS4 could barely run it and CD Projekt Red kept telling frustrated players that Sony would give them refunds (not something they do). You’d think their relationship with Sony would be a little awkward after all that, but, according to Kicinski, it’s actually pretty “friendly”. So that’s nice.

CD Projekt will get Cyberpunk all fixed up and functional one day, maybe even by 2077.
