So we’re living in the Planet of the Apes timeline, glad we got that figured out. Although I’d prefer the Jurassic Park doomsday scenario, because at least dinosaurs don’t have thumbs.
Neuralink, Elon Musk’s brain-machine interface company, has managed to teach a nine-year-old macaque, called Pager, to play Mindpong – that’s the classic video game Pong, but using your mind instead of your filthy meat paws. Motivated by a supply of banana smoothie, Pager quickly learned how to manipulate a joystick to hit lit-up targets on a screen while two Neuralink implants mapped his brain activity. Once mapped, the joystick was no longer required and Pager could hit the targets using only his will to do so. Apparently, it wasn’t much of a leap for him to then learn Pong.
Don’t worry, it’s super easy to pair your telepathic monkey to your phone using Bluetooth – convenient.
Okay, so now the world is probably going to end because a cyborg monkey gets sniped on drop in Fortnite, rage quits, and takes out its frustration on all of humanity by way of its equally abused robot brethren. The monkeys were in league with the machines the whole time! IT’S SO OBVIOUS NOW.
