I bet you forgot about Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Well, this movie clip is here to remind you of yet another thing you were looking forward to before the pandemic hit.
We got the first proper Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer back in 2019, when loadshedding was the worst of our concerns. This sequel to 1989’s Ghostbusters II was meant to come out in 2020, but that didn’t happen, like a lot of things. Anyway, being a direct sequel, we can prepare for a lot of familiar faces to pop up, like Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Sigourney Weaver. Apparently this also includes the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, last seen exploding over Manhattan almost 40 years ago, now in a handy new fun size for maximum chaos.
The original marshmallow monster was one of the physical manifestations of Gozer the ancient god of destruction, primary antagonist in the first Ghostbusters film. Does this mean Gozer has returned? Was Ray nearby when these tiny suicidal marshmallow men manifested? Is Paul Rudd the new Ray?? So many questions.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is currently due to release sometime around September/October this year.
