The local esports org has teamed up with Free Fire publisher Garena to host a battle royale tournament every week over the next three months, and registration opens this weekend.
Free Fire is one of the most mega-popular mobile games, clocking some 100 million (!) global players every day. Garena also recently added dedicated servers in South Africa for that extra low ping convenience.
“Mobile esports and mobile gaming is set to be big in Africa as it is easily accessible for those gamers who cannot afford to purchase a high-end gaming PC or the latest console,” explains Ekasi Esports creative director Perfect Zikhali.
After launching the Free Fire SSA Servers, which are accessible to most African countries, Garena has greatly improved the experience in the African Free Fire mobile gaming and competitive esports scene. This has opened a lot of opportunities for African mobile gamers to compete at a world-class level. Ekasi Esports is excited to see what the future holds for the African mobile gaming and competitive esports scene.
The Free Fire Series includes 96 available player slots per week, with R400 cash and other prizes up for the win. Registration for the next event opens on 3 April on the Ekasi Esports website.
