HBO is reportedly considering three other prequel series, on top of House of the Dragon, in order to really milk Game of Thrones’ popularity. Meanwhile, book fans have been waiting for the conclusion to A Song of Ice and Fire for 10 YEARS.
According to Deadline, HBO has been gathering ideas for three new prequel series set in the Game of Thrones universe, tentatively named Sea Snake, Flea Bottom, and 10,000 Ships. Sea Snake, revolving around the voyages of legendary seafarer Corlys Velaryon, is supposedly the most developed as there is a creative team working on it. Then, there’s Flea Bottom, a series about the slum district of King’s Landing, and 10,000 Ships, which is about warrior queen Princess Nymeria and her journey from Essos to Dorne 1,000 years before the events of GoT.
House of the Dragon, a series set 300 years before GoT and focussed on the Targaryens in the midst of a civil war, is about to go into production. These other series are even further away and the original show ended in 2019, so will anyone even care by the time they come out?
All of these new ventures, and more, require author George R.R. Martin’s input, so don’t be surprised if he never finishes Winds of Winter or A Dream of Spring. Make up your own ending, go wild. Anything will probably be better than Season 8.
