With Final Fantasy VII Remake and new PS5-exclusive Destruction AllStars on the list of freebies this month, March’s PS Plus compilation is already a must-have mega-deal for subscribers – but don’t forget to also queue up Gunfire Games’ obscenely underrated Remnant: From the Ashes.
Launched in August 2019, Remnant: From the Ashes is a post-apocalyptic kill-’em-up with co-op support for up to three players, and it’s a super fun time. The game has been compared in some reviews and even on Wikipedia with Dark Souls, which I think maybe explains its obscurity with casualcore gamers – thing is, it’s not actually that much like Dark Souls. I know because I finished Remnant: From the Ashes and both its DLC expansions, but I can’t even finish one stupid skeleton in a Dark Souls game. You don’t lose your items or XP if you get deaded in Remnant: From the Ashes either, and if you’re playing co-op, you can help each other up when you get pre-deaded and skip getting deaded entirely. EZPZ.
Explore dynamically-generated worlds that change each time you play in Remnant: From the Ashes. As one of the last remnants of humanity, you’ll face down hordes of deadly enemies and epic bosses to try and retake what was lost in this third-person survival action shooter.
The PS Plus games available to download with a PS Plus subscription until 4 April include:
- Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)
- Destruction AllStars (PS5)
- Remnant: From the Ashes (PS4)
- Maquette (PS5)
- Farpoint (PSVR)
Next month, Oddworld: Soulstorm launches on PC and PlayStation consoles, and – bonus! – is also one of April’s PS Plus games. The other games aren’t confirmed for the moment.
