The Sinking City’s development journey has been fraught with nightmares from which it may never wake.
Frogwares has warned fans not to purchase the newly available Steam version of their game, The Sinking City, saying that it is not the game they created, for reasons they have yet to explain.
Frogwares has not created the version of @thesinkingcity that is today on sale on @Steam. We do not recommend the purchase of this version. More news soon.

The Sinking City, an action-adventure, survival horror game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, was originally released in 2019 and then removed from Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox and PlayStation stores on 25 August 2020 due to a legal dispute. Basically, Frogwares accused publishers BigBen Interactive and Nacon of, amongst other things, withholding royalties and implying that they own the game, having gone so far as to remove Frogwares’ branding and name from the marketing material and certain game covers.
Now, The Sinking City is back on Steam, but it’s not The Sinking City you’re looking for. Understandably, people who rushed to purchase the game once it became available again are confused, since it still lists Frogwares as the developer. Feel free to request a refund if you are one of these people.
Frogwares has yet to put out an update on the situation, but if you want to be certain you’re getting the right game on PC, you can buy it from Frogwares’ own store.
