Yes, a game originally released over 20 years ago is getting new content for the PS5 and a battle royale (obviously). Square Enix has been busy.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade adds totally new content for the PS5
Square Enix’s iconic Final Fantasy VII first came out in 1997, then we got a PS4 remake last year that updated, and added to, the graphics, gameplay, and story. Now, PS5 players are getting Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade which, alongside fancy next-gen improvements, includes a whole new episode focussed on Yuffie Kisaragi.
PS5 improvements include faster load times, a 60fps performance mode, and 4K graphics
If you already own Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS4, you will get a free upgrade to Integrade for your PS5, but the Yuffie content will cost extra. Alternatively, you can pre-purchase Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade for R1,429 (Standard) or R1,789 (Digital Deluxe Edition), both of which include the Yuffie content.
But that’s not all, Final Fantasy VII fans are also getting two mobile games to expand on the FFVII experience.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is a single-player RPG that appears to be the same as the remake, but for mobile. It’s due to release some time in 2022 for Android and iOS.
And then there’s the obligatory battle royale Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier
Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier is a battle royale, set 30 years before the events of FFVII, featuring guns, swords, magic, and chocobos. It’s due out for Android and iOS some time this year.
