Instinction Spinosaurus

Spiritual successor to Dino Crisis, Instinction is looking like a dino nerd’s dream

I mean, if said dream involved shooting a whole mess of impressively realistic-looking dinosaurs and dinosaur-adjacent creatures.

In development at New Zealand-based Hashbane Interactive, Instinction is an upcoming co-op, action-adventure, survival horror game featuring dinosaurs and a whole bunch of other prehistoric beasts. Billed as a spiritual successor to 1999’s Dino Crisis, you play as one of three members of a salvage crew on a mission that will “test their resolve, relationships and push them to the darkest corners of their minds”, now with advanced dismemberment physics.

Slay terrifying prehistoric creatures in this semi-open world epic, with immersive combat and exploration in multiple awe inspiring natural locations, all while solving puzzles and completing campaigns.

Created using the Unreal Engine, and focussing particularly on the capabilities of next-gen consoles and GPUs, Instinction will reportedly support 8k gaming at up to 120fps. So, you can expect some crispy dinosaurs all up in your face.

From what I can glean from the press kit, the prehistoric playmates you may encounter, so far, include Spinosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Sarcosuchus (not a dinosaur), Thalassodromeus (also not a dinosaur), Giraffatitan, and Smilodon (very much not a dinosaur). Colour me intrigued.

You can check out the extremely teasing teaser for Instinction (mostly atmospheric load screens) below:

Instinction is due to release for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation some time around the third quarter of 2022.
