Assassin’s Creed Vallhalla introduces new game møde, new things

Ubisoft has dropped a free content update for its viking-’em-up, featuring the new “River Raids” game mode, new upgrades, new skills, and more.

The River Raids game mode ups the difficulty of in-game raids, and includes three new unique locations, new loot, and a new, totally customisable longship. This mode is separate from the campaign, so messing up in one of these raids won’t have tragic consequences for Eivor’s cølönisätiøn of the Ængeländes. Your Jomsvikings, however, can be “temporarily lost” if you don’t revive them, so don’t be like that.

To access the River Raids game mode, you have to complete one of the first two narrative missions, Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire. Next, build your Barracks and recruit your Jomsviking Lieutenant, and you’ll meet Vagn, a new NPC. He knows what’s up. You can now also build a new Jomsviking Hall, with three levels of upgrades, to recruit new Jomsvikings.

Other new things:

  • The Saint George Armor set and Great Sword
  • Three new abilities – Shoulder Bash, Battle Cry, and Berserker Trap
  • Six new skills – Fight Ready, Arrow Looter, Assassin Carry, Long Ship Brace, Power Stroke, and Assassin Slide
  • Two new buildings (I dunno if that includes the Jomsviking Hall, though)
  • New cosmetics for you and your longship

The game’s second season starts in March, so expect even more content before the Wrath of the Druids expansion is out.
