The first update of 2021 for DayZ has arrived and its wiping the post-apocalyptic zombie survival experience clean. Well, as clean as you can expect.
Update 1.11 mostly focusses on bug fixes and stability improvements, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be anything new. Additions include the new SVAL rifle and new abandoned parts for the M3S truck. Also, starting a vehicle engine will now deplete some of its battery, for reasons of realism (hooray). About that rifle – the SVAL is a “badass” close-combat weapon, that uses 9×39 ammo, and you will be able to find it at helicopter crash sites.
Over on the fixes side, there’s a lot going on, including improved collision detection for infected vs. player melee altercations (they should no longer be able to get inside you – ew), fixing a bug that saw the player teleport when leaving a vehicle, and fixing damage triggers for barbed wire and fireplaces (you’ll no longer burn your toes when trying to warm up or be set on fire when leaving the area). More importantly, your sea fishing escapades will no longer be disturbed.
As already mentioned, be aware that all official game servers will be wiped (including your characters) for this update. For all the details, you can check out the official patch notes for PC and console.
