I am so, so, sorry but also not, because it’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday!
Heavily autotuned, featuring Dorian Electra, Big Freedia, 3OH!3, and all of the irony, the 10th anniversary Friday remix is fully aware of its absurd success story so you can’t even make fun of it.
For a little reminder, 10 years ago Rebecca Black released Friday, the song about the very real conundrum all teens must face (especially on Fridays): which seat will I take?
It was pretty rubbish and autotuned to death, but also catchy and unforgettable. And, because the internet is a strange place, it became a viral hit, spawning parody versions like this exceptional Braai Day remix by Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues (that I still quote to this day):
In fact, so many people loved Friday that it recently went gold for selling 500,000 copies. Yes.
We wish every Monday was #Friday! Congratulations 🎉 to @msrebeccablack on #Friday becoming #RIAACertified GOLD 📀! pic.twitter.com/yT2RRtYcF3
