The Witcher: Blood Origin prequel series confirms its first casting

Netflix has announced a six-episode prequel series based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, featuring Jodie Turner-Smith as new elven protagonist Éile.

The British actress, whose previous credits include Queen & Slim, True Blood, and Nightflyers, makes her The Witcher: Blood Origin debut as “an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess”, who quits her clan to “follow her heart as a nomadic musician” and ends up on a “quest for vengeance and redemption”. Like you do.

Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.

Sapkowski is attached to the series as a creative consultant, with Declan De Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich as executive producers. We don’t know much more about the show for now, but it’s a separate project to The Witcher’s second season and the animated The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf.
