Cyberpunk 2077 update fixes one game-breaking bug, introduces a new game-breaking bug

Released on Friday, the game’s version 1.1 update fixed a significant main campaign bug but replaced it with a different, equally frustrating bug in the same mission. Try again, Y/N?

One of the update’s extensive list items fixes a game-breaking glitch in “Down on the Street”, in which Goro Takemura wouldn’t make the phone call to the player required to finish the mission. Because this is a main campaign mission, the bug made it impossible to continue the game.

The update fixes the problem, kind of. Takemura now makes the phone call, but for some players, he simply doesn’t talk or even hang up, and you’re now stuck in an awkward one-sided phone call forever, unable to interact with the game. According to users on Reddit, just reloading a previous save doesn’t necessarily resolve the issue – although some players got this to work:

Support emailed me this and it worked for me:
For a potential workaround follow the steps below:
1. Load an older save file before Takemura and V leaves Wakako’s office
2. V must finish conversation with Takemura outside the office right away
3. Right after the conversation and updated quest progression, skip 23h.
4. See if the holocall triggers and a conversation with Takemura starts

If you’ve not started this mission, however, I’d recommend waiting until the next update is out but consider this a convenient reminder to save frequently and to multiple files #NAGHotTips.
