Far Cry 6’s new launch date leaked

Probably one of 2021’s most-wanted games even if it wasn’t nominated in that category for The Game Awards for some reason, Ubisoft’s new dysfunctional dictator sim sequel is expected to drop in time for the next global pandemic (maybe).

First scheduled to launch on 18 February, Far Cry 6 was recently delayed to an unconfirmed date between April 2021 and May 2022, with the publisher’s CFO Frédérick Duguet citing “you know, the global pandemic thing”. Now, according to an (oops-lol?) update on Xbox, that date is 26 May 2021. At publish time, the shop link in this tweet had not been scrubbed.

With multiple games delayed in 2020, though, and COVID-19 numbers ever on the increase, I dunno if I would count on this date not also being subject to a delay or two or ten.

Far Cry 6 introduces Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito as the fascist “El Presidente” of Yara, a made-up, retro-contemporary Caribbean island state based on Cuba.
