Stories from the Outlands – Promise is the latest bit of Apex Legends lore revealed ahead of Season 7 and damn that’s cold, Respawn.
So, turns out that upcoming Legend Horizon (aka Dr. Mary Somers) was trapped out in space for 87 years while trying to harvest Branthium from a black hole in an effort to save her planet (Olympus) from a “cataclysmic energy crisis”. Which was long enough for her son to grow up, live, and die before she made it back home – harsh. It does mean she’ll fit right in with all those Legends with dead parents and abandonment issues, though.
And how was he trapped? She was betrayed, of course, by a dodgy colleague who I’m assuming is Ash in her pre-simulacrum days, because everything suspicious is Ash now.
Apex Legends is free to play and Season 7 – Ascension begins on 4 November. In case you thought the Olympus map was an elaborate ruse (because you have trust issues), EA has already confirmed that the new map will be part of the season.
