Ahead of the game’s launch next month, Ubisoft has announced the now almost obligatory season pass, featuring two “major” expansions and an exclusive in-game quest, plus free seasonal swag and a Discovery Tour mode.
Available on day one, the exclusive Legend of Beowulf quest promises to expose “the monstrous truth” of the classic Anglo-Saxon poem about a Witcher before the The Witcher was even invented. The Wrath of the Druids and Siege of Paris expansions are expected to drop next year, with new locations and missions and Ireland and France, respectively. Access to this content is limited to the season pass, which is included with the Gold, Ultimate, and Collector editions of the game or purchased separately.
For everybody else, though, Ubisoft is also prepping a series of free content updates – new narrative thingies, new in-game events, new custom cosmetics, and more – on a three-month seasonal rotation, starting in December.
Season 2 will launch in March 2021 with a new game mode that builds on Valhalla’s core combat experiences, a new Jomsviking update, festivals in the Settlement, new gear and cosmetic items, and more. More information about Season 3 and 4 will be come at a later time.
Much like Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Discovery Tour mode is a “conflict-free” version of the game that scrubs out the bad guys so you can enjoy the scenery without the inconvenience of murder. It’s also out in 2021.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches on 10 November.
