Yup, it’s that time of the year again where we get to embrace the shadows and live our best Apex afterlives – this time in Shadow Royale.
You may remember a version of Shadow Royale from last year’s Fight or Fright event (or maybe you have a friend who couldn’t stop talking about it), but it’s a little different this time. For starters, the limited-time game mode takes place on the alternate version of Kings Canyon you may remember from The Broken Ghost quest from Season 5, which is full of Prowlers. So, you’ve got that to deal with.
Then, it’s team-based this year, so when a squadmate is killed, they return as a shadow-beast with increased movement speed, claws for deadly melee attacks, and the ability to revive downed squad members. The shadows also get wall-run and, potentially, double-jump capabilities, too. They’ll remain shadows as long as one of your squadmates remains alive, so use all your spooky wiles to secure victory.
The event will also feature the return of some Halloween skins, with new colour variations, and new challenges to earn free stuff.
Fight or Fright begins tomorrow, 22 October, and will continue until 3 November. Apex Legends is free to play on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
