I mean, like, in general, but also for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.
It seemed like we’d all entered a new era of gaming recently when Blizzard released the requirements for upcoming World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, which included a 100GB SSD, minimum, in order to work. This reveal led to much wailing about forcing PC upgrades. But it turns out that it was all a mistake, according to the updated requirements, and not an attempt to get everyone still playing Word of Warcraft to just upgrade already.
The minimum requirements for the Shadowlands expansion now give you the option of a 100GB SSD OR the same amount of space on a regular hard drive, with an added warning about hard drive performance potentially impacting player experience. Because people are going to complain about load times, they just are.
Since everything’s just going to get bigger, and mechanical hard drive speeds can’t keep up, you might as well get that SSD anyway.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is due to launch for PC on 27 October.
