Resident Evil Wesker Netflix

Netflix confirms rumoured Resident Evil series

We’re getting another live action adaptation of Resident Evil and, this time, it’s a Netflix series.

The existence of the much-rumoured live action Resident Evil series was recently confirmed by an official Netflix Twitter account.

For those with limited Resident Evil knowledge: Albert Wesker, a sadistic, power-hungry researcher for the Umbrella Corporation, is the primary antagonist in much of the Resident Evil franchise. In the game lore, Wesker had at least one actual son and adopted several other children as part of a eugenics experiment, so it will be interesting to see who, exactly, the Netflix series’ “Wesker kids” are.

Also, are they actually kids? Is this going to be like Resident Evil x Stranger Things, where a plucky band of tweens stumbles upon the secret machinations of the Umbrella Corporation? That could get very dark, very quickly. Maybe they’re actually Wesker’s grandchildren and they’ve got a family history project due. It’s also quite possible these “kids” are actually in their twenties and there won’t be any child-endangerment at all – boo.

I welcome your wild speculation.

The first episode of Netflix’s Resident Evil is written by Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) with Bronwen Hughes (The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul) as director. There is no set release date or casting information, yet.
