New LEGO Art Mosaic sets let you build your own wall decor

LEGO has announced a new range of pixelacious mosaic art sets featuring pop-culture icons and characters like Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe, Star Wars’ The Sith, and Marvel’s Iron Man.

I think we may have found something to replace adult colouring books for maximum relaxation, if they weren’t so expensive. The first wave of LEGO’s new Art Mosaic sets includes the iconic Marilyn Monroe artwork by Andy Warhol and portraits of The Beatles, Iron Man, and members of The Sith.

Each canvas measures 40 cm square and the artwork is made up of around 3000 round LEGO beads. Some sets can even be combined to create a new, mega-artwork, like the Iron Man one, below:

Each set also comes with an accompanying soundtrack featuring music, interviews, and stories from the people involved in the creation of your chosen pop culture icon.

These look really awesome, but each set only comes with one canvas. If you want to display, say, all four Marilyn Monroes or all three Iron Man suit variations, as shown in the marketing images, you’ll have to purchase a new set for each one. The same goes for combining the sets into one large image; you’ll have to buy three of them. So, manage your expectations and your budget.

The LEGO Art Mosaic sets are due to go on sale from 1 August 2020 and should cost $120 (currently about R2,030). Incidentally, 2030 is also the year we’ll be allowed to invite friends over to our houses again, so that they might gaze upon our expensive LEGO artworks.
