If you’re into RGB lights on things, then these are the speakers for you. Just go and get them. End of review. Just trust us. If you need more convincing, and don’t just trust everything people tell you then keep reading. It’s all going to end the same way. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
The Logitech G560 LIGHTSYNC PC gaming speakers give you all the good things you’d expect from one of the best speaker makers in the business, plus something you might not expect – RGB lights! All shiny and bright responsive LED lights that react to what’s happening on the screen.
The set consists of a sub-woofer and two satellite speakers. The sub-woofer sits on the floor, features no lights (or a volume knob) and isn’t any more exciting than any other sub-woofer you’ve ever seen. The magic happens with the two satellite speakers. Each one has three different areas of lighting – a large dome at the back, two bright smaller hidden LEDs, and then strips that cover a fancy rounded arch that forms part of the base and connects to the top. The right-hand side satellite has a volume button on top plus a button to change the LED brightness, and at the back, a power button and Bluetooth paring button. While on the topic of connecting this up to your PC, you can do so using USB, 3.5mm audio cable, or Bluetooth.
Setup is simple plug-and-play, but I recommend downloading the Logitech G Hub software to work alongside your speakers. With the G Hub software, you can tweak the LED lights in several ways – for example, the lighting effects can be cycled between off, fixed, breathing, audio visualizer, and screen sampler. You can also choose colours (back and front), brightness, and rate of “breathing”.
The screen sampling is perhaps the most interesting option, and is even effective when watching something on Netflix. To use it, you select an area of the screen – top and bottom, left and right, to sample the colour from. So, if a red alert light starts flashing while you’re watching a tense submarine drama, the back of your wall and speaker will reflect what’s happening on screen with the same red flashing. By just using these speakers you can increase your ambient viewing environment by around 40%. More or less. This is a guess.
Lights aside, there are also settings for surround sound, speaker “moods”, and advanced settings where you can adjust anything to whatever setting you like. The software also includes pre-set profiles for specific listed games, including Ark: Survival Evolved, Borderlands, PUBG, and many more. With the GTA sound profile selected, for example, the speakers will flash blue and red if you’re being chased by the police. Incredible experience.
RGB can be gimmicky but when it’s done right it brings something new to the party. I watched a video on YouTube that featured different guns shooting and it really demonstrated the power of this combination of sound and light. They look good, sound great and have more software options than you’ll ever need. Have a hard look at these if you’re looking for something different that performs better than you expect.
