Apparently player feedback, but also game stats, suggested they should remove the Kings Canyon After Dark map from rotation.
With the introduction of the Old Ways Event, about a week ago, Respawn added map rotation to Apex Legends. This meant that the three available maps (Kings Canyon, Kings Canyon After Dark, and World’s Edge) would cycle into play for varying lengths of time. They decided to cycle the maps to avoid lengthy queue times that would have come with the option to choose.
Now, Respawn has removed the Kings Canyon After Dark map and reduced the time that regular Kings Canyon will be available in the rotation, in order to allow more players more time on World’s Edge; where the special Bloodhound Takeover Event is currently taking place.
Last week, we added in map rotation. After taking in all your feedback over the past 7 days, we’ve decided to make some changes to map rotation. Effective immediately, we’ll be removing Nighttime Kings Canyon, and shortening how long regular Kings Canyon is available. pic.twitter.com/KcG6AbW3ZT

I mean, it makes sense; two out of three map options had absolutely zero opportunities to punch a prowler in the face, which is what we’re all here for. You can’t argue with fractions.
However, Kings Canyon After Dark is pretty fun to play on, with all its candles and spookiness, so I hope they bring it back into rotation once the Old Ways Event is over.
