Sorry, Konami is crying fake news on some of those Silent Hill rumours, but not all of them.
A Konami US spokesperson recently confirmed, in a statement to Rely on Horror, that the rumours around the Silent Hill reboot were simply not true. This comes after new ones started flying around about Sony being interested in buying the game rights (along with those for Metal Gear and Castlevania), and teaming up with Kojima Productions, to potentially continue work on the abandoned Silent Hills project.
We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear.
However, all is not lost, as the Konami spokesperson also mentioned that this doesn’t mean the franchise is dead, but rather that its future just won’t involve Sony or Kojima.
It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported.
It’s quite possible they’re still working on at least one new Silent Hill game that may even come out while we’re all still alive and can remember what Silent Hill even is. The last proper Silent Hill game came out in 2012.
So, stop trying to make Silent Hills happen; it’s not going to happen.
