Altered Carbon: Resleeved

Altered Carbon animated series is coming to Netflix next week

That’s not how you pronounce Kovacs…

Altered Carbon: Resleeved is an animated series based in the future world we already know and love from Richard K. Morgan’s books and the live-action Netflix adaptation, which is currently in its second season.

This time, last Envoy Takeshi Kovacs has been spun up on planet Latimer to protect a Yakuza tattooist from a whole mess of sci-fi ninjas, while he investigates the murder of a Yakuza boss, with the help of a purple-haired CTAC soldier (not Major Kusanagi), in a story written by Cowboy Bebop’s Dai Satō.

For the uninitiated, in the Altered Carbon world, people are essentially immortal because their life data and consciousness are kept in small disks, called stacks, while their bodies, or sleeves, are infinitely replaceable (if you’re wealthy). A person can only be killed if the stack is destroyed.

Yes, it looks a bit like a TellTale game, and the voice acting is a little questionable, but it might still be entertaining. I’m also assuming (hoping) the mispronunciation of his name was on purpose.

Altered Carbon: Resleeved comes out on 19 March 2020.
