The clever monsters over at Ctrl Shift Face have deepfaked Brad Pitt’s face onto Tommy Wiseau in a clip from the classic abomination of a film that is The Room, and consequences will never be the same.
I mean, it’s probably what Wiseau believed he looked like the whole time, but what did Brad Pitt do to deserve this?
Deepfake (deep learning + fake) technology uses a type of neural network to, basically, break down a person’s key features into code and then overlay that code onto another person, creating near-seamless fake videos. Due to the obvious potential for abuse, deepfakes can be a bit of a problem. Remember, kids: trust nothing, question everything, and drink to forget.
In this case, at least, the only things being abused are our eyes.
