Can you have too many maps? Microsoft certainly doesn’t think so, so you’ll be getting access to 6.2 million of them when Halo: Reach launches as part of the Master Chief Collection in December.
As announced at Microsoft’s X019 event, Halo: Reach will be coming to Xbox One and PC on 3 December. If you own the Master Chief Collection on Xbox, Reach will simply join the rest of the collection, but all the Halo games are added separately on PC. Xbox One players will also have the Forge and Theater available at Reach’s launch, while PC players will have to wait until next year for these features. Apparently, it’s a lot more work to get these working correctly on PC, so Microsoft is taking its time to get it right. If you want more details about the process, you can check out their latest MCC Development Update over here.
However, with 6.2 million maps and modes available from Reach’s day one, you’ll probably manage without the Forge for a little while. Where did all these maps and modes come from? They’re a collection of legacy file shares from Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4.
