Finally, a legitimate reason to wander the streets, asking strangers if they’ve got wood.
Catan – World Explorers is an upcoming, multiplayer augmented reality game that lets you scour your neighbourhood for resources in order to build settlements, roads, and trade relationships with those around you and around the world. Sort of like Pokémon GO, but you’re collecting sheep and nobody wants to fight you. Unless you refuse them the sheep you so obviously have and they just want to build a settlement and they’ve only got metric fucktons of wood and WHY DOESN’T ANYBODY WANT MY WOOD?
Anyway, it seems like you’ll have to walk around in order to harvest resources, build roads, and trade with your surrounding settlers and in-game characters, differentiating World Explorers from the other online versions of Catan. You’ll also be able to build a team of like-minded settlers and compete against others on a local or global scale, for seasonal rewards, or just in personal matches with friends.
Catan – World Explorers is being built on the Niantic Real World Platform used by games such as Pokémon GO and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
Catan – World Explorers is set for release some time in 2020.
