The Pokémon Company’s chief Tsunekazu Ishihara has announced that the new mobile game Pokémon Masters will be hitting Android and iOS devices sometime this summer (winter for us basically).
An anime-style trailer for the new game features pretty much every single Pokémon trainer and gym leader from the Pokémon series, including Misty and Brock. The game’s setting takes place on an artificial island called Pasio, where trainers from all over come and compete for the number one spot. Trainers are only allowed to travel with one Pokémon and together, they’re called a Sync Pair. Throughout their journey, trainers will team up with others to qualify for the Pokémon Masters League by earning badges through battle.
Pokémon battles will follow a three-versus-three format and will happen in real time. Additionally, Pokémon will be able to use beefed up attacks called Sync Moves while battling with the help of what’s being called a Move Gauge – Sync Moves are basically Z moves, enough said. Pokémon won’t be the only ones bringing moves to battle, as trainers come with skills of their own, imaginatively dubbed Trainer Moves.
The game’s development is in the hands of DeNA, the studio that made Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes. No exact release date yet, but having something other than Pokémon Go to satisfy my mobile Pokémon fix sounds exciting.
